Coder Dojo

Above All- Be Cool

On Saturday 7th Lisa and I visited the Cork Coder Dojo as founded by James Whelton and Bill Liao.

When we arrived the place was buzzing with kids and their parents, as they played games, drew digital pictures and coded in html, css, and scratch.

We saw a 3d printer that was built by one of the participants and I met some of the parents including @Walter who recommended we check out the raphael.js - on my to do list for today.

I was given the opportunity of presenting our Joomla game engine to Bill who then organised for me to speak to the older, more technically advanced kids. The kids were interested in the game and offered suggestions and investigate the skeleton game that is on offer. In fact, as Bill pointed out, if we make this thing extendable through plugins, who knows what direction they will take it. This is any open source coders dream.

I need to clean up the code a little but as Bill said no point in waiting about, so it will be up on github in the next week or so. Meanwhile, we will be adding the coder dojos to our list of stop off points in the Irish Joomla User Group road show.
