A chairde,
The Joomla Irish Translation Project was re-ignited in September 09, and the 1.5.15 language files in Irish, unfinished, are available since December 09 on request from the forum
forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=78621&start=60
They have been recently updated to 1.5.18.
Why are the files not freely downloadable?
The Joomla's Translation policy advise not to release publicly some unfinished files, to avoid confusion and disappointment in the "non-community member" public.
The extension used to switch the language in the front-end is JoomFish. It's help to manage translation of the content, and of the components and modules too (but for these, the Translation Manager extension is much better because it generates the translation files to share them!)

We need help to translate some popular extensions, and to maintain the language files over the time. We should have the completed translation soon, from a friendly company and its client, with JoomFish and PhocaGallery extensions as well. JEvents is partially translated too.
By the way, I recognised a forum member, Garycocs, who uses the files too. How are you doing Gary ?
Any native speaker here?
